SEC names new market regulation chief

Securities market expert Erik Sirri is to join US regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as director of the market regulation division.

Sirri is currently a professor of finance at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He was the SEC's chief economist from 1996 to 1999 and has specialised in the structure of securities markets.

His published work includes articles on the future of securities exchanges, strategies for submitting orders to exchanges, corporate bond trading
