SG names co-heads of fixed income and derivatives

SG, the investment banking arm of Société Générale, has named two co-heads of the fixed income and derivatives operations in Europe and Asia to fill the vacancy left by Grégoire Varenne, who moves on to the company’s debt finance executive committee.

Stéphane Landon, who will be based in Paris, joined SG in 1989 and has worked as co-head of foreign exchange and treasury since 2000. Frédéric Desclaux was promoted from his previous role as head of institutional investor fixed income and derivative sales. He will work out of London.

In Asia, Landon will take responsibility for Japan, while Desclaux will work with the rest of the region.

The pair will develop the French bank's fixed-income activities, particularly interest rate and credit derivatives.

SG has also hired a senior credit trader. Marc Geffroy joins from Calyon, formed by the merger of Crédit Agricole Indosuez and Crédit Lyonnais, and will report to Régis Copinot, head of credit trading.
