Offshore CGB futures still wanted as onshore opens to QFIs

Cash-settled HKEX contracts still in demand despite easing of onshore access

Market participants insist there is still room for offshore Chinese government bond (CGB) futures out of Hong Kong, despite Beijing making the first moves to open its equivalent onshore futures market to qualified foreign investors last month.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) on April 24 allowed overseas investors under the Qualified Foreign Investor (QFI) scheme to trade CGB
