BofA faces higher G-Sib surcharge, BNPP earns reprieve

Second-largest US lender assigned to 2% capital add-on bucket in latest systemic risk assessment

Bank of America could face a higher capital surcharge in 2024, after the Financial Stability Board (FSB) found it to have increased its systemic footprint in 2021, according to the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s methodology.

The US’s second-largest bank scored 331 basis points in the latest assessment of global systemically important banks (G-Sibs), up 40bp from the previous year.
