StanChart’s derivatives exposures climb 42% in 2019

UK bank’s leverage ratio falls 30 basis points year-on-year

UK bank Standard Chartered disclosed derivatives exposures, as defined under the leverage ratio, of $26.2 billion at end-2019, up +42% on the year before.

StanChart also saw its overall leverage exposure expand the most of the three UK global systemically important banks (G-Sibs), by +6% to $795.7 billion.

The other two UK G-Sibs, HSBC and Barclays, saw derivatives exposures fall year-on-year
