US bank minnows growing faster than giants

Banks $1 billion to $10 billion in size accumulated assets at faster rate than those over $10 billion in size in 2018

The largest US lenders have increased assets at a slower clip than their smaller rivals since 2012.

Peer group 1 bank holding companies, those over $10 billion in size, grew assets by 7% over 2018. They were outpaced by peer group 2 firms, those between $3 billion and $10 billion in size, which grew at a rate of 9.35% and peer group 3 firms, of between $1 billion to $3 billion in size, which
