Peripheral EU banks free encumbered assets

Ratio of encumbered assets to total assets at Greek banks falls to 23.9% from 31.6%

Banks in countries afflicted by the eurozone crisis drastically reduced the share of their assets tied up as collateral for swaps, repos and central bank funding in 2018.
