Market risk amps Nomura’s RWAs

CET1 ratio falls 30bp to 16.8% on the quarter

Japanese bank Nomura posted risk-weighted assets (RWAs) of ¥14.7 trillion ($135 billion) at end-June, up 3% on the quarter as its measure of market risk ticked up. 

Data on the degree to which market RWAs jumped was not published with the bank’s Q2 earnings. As of end-March, these RWAs made up 30% of its total. Nomura reported a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital ratio of 16.8% at end-June, down
