UK systemic risk buffer capital cost over £7bn

The Bank of England set the buffer amounts on May 1

Incoming systemic risk buffers for UK ring-fenced banks (RFBs) could tie up around £7 billion–8 billion ($9 billion–10 billion) of capital in total across the subject lenders, Risk Quantum estimates.

The Bank of England set SRB rates for five UK groups – Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, RBS and Santander UK – on May 1. These are set as a percentage of the risk-weighted assets of each group's RFB.
