Counterparty risk climbs at JP Morgan, falls back at rivals

JP Morgan EADs up 10% and CRR RWAs 11% year-on-year

Large US dealers' counterparty credit risk (CCR) diverged in 2018, with BofA Securities and Wells Fargo reducing total exposures, Citi’s increasing a little, and JP Morgan's growing a lot.

The latter posted total exposures-at-default (EAD) of $236.8 billion at end-2018, up 10% on the year-ago quarter. Of this amount, more than half, $143.4 billion, related to the least-risky counterparties –
