UK banks build up risk in Q2

Total RWAs were up £57 billion, from £2.89 trillion to £2.94 trillion

Total risk-weighted assets across UK banks rose 2% in the second quarter of the year driven largely by higher credit and counterparty risk, figures from the Bank of England show. It was the first increase since Q2 2016.

Credit and counterparty RWAs were 2.3% higher at the end of June at £2.1 trillion, up from £2 trillion in March. Operational RWAs grew by £9 billion, or 3%, to £304 billion.
