Westpac's capital charge rises as securitisation rule bites

Securitisation RWAs jump from A$1.4 billion under new standard

The introduction of a new capital regime for securitisations by the Australian supervisor hiked Westpac's capital requirements for the assets by a third following its implementation at the start of the year. 

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (Apra) implemented APS 120, a new regime for capitalising securitisations, on January 1. Westpac stated this added A$1.4 billion ($1 billion)
