State Street bolsters liquidity buffers

HQLA share of investment portfolio grows from 61% to 70% in the first quarter

State Street shook up its investment portfolio in the first quarter as part of a drive to prepare for a higher rate environment and improve regulatory liquidity measures.

The Boston-based custody bank sold around $12 billion of assets in the three months to March 31 – reducing its total investment portfolio from $97.5 billion to $85.6 billion. The bank said the rejig was in line with its strategy
