"If the US or Europe decide to mandate Canadian dollars, we will align with their timeline," said Marie-Annick Laurendeau at the Risk Canada event in Toronto

Regulators in the US and Europe will determine when Canadian dollar interest rate swaps are mandated for central clearing in Canada, according to a regulator at the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) in Quebec.

"The timeline for a Canadian dollar mandate is as soon as another major jurisdiction has such a mandate in place," said Marie-Annick Laurendeau, a lawyer responsible for derivatives
