Regulators must define conduct risk, Nomura op risk head says

OpRisk Europe heard yesterday that the UK regulator needs to provide the industry with a definition of conduct risk to help banks formulate a unified and consistent approach to managing such risks

Conduct is perceived as a risk class in its own right and needs to be defined accordingly, the OpRisk Europe conference in London heard yesterday. Huw Howell, global head of operational risk management at Nomura, told delegates that the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) should work with the operational risk community to help deal with the issue of conduct risk.
