Costs of reducing operational risk caused by alcohol and drug abuse are "off-putting" to banks despite potentially huge return on investment
The scale of alcohol and drug misuse in the banking industry is discouraging firms from addressing the problem because of the potential costs involved, a London conference on substance abuse heard yesterday.
