OpRisk North America: Beware interconnectedness, DuChene warns

Banks' dependencies on others and consolidation of third-party service providers are dangers

Interconnectedness between banks is a major risk driver that must not be ignored, Carolyn DuChene, deputy comptroller at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), told OpRisk North America in New York yesterday.

DuChene warned that banks operate in an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world – with vital and vulnerable links not only with other banks but also with vendors
