Hedge funds remain exclusive

The decision by the UK's FSA not to liberalise the rules on the marketing of hedge funds and hedge fund associated products is to be welcomed.

The argument, from HFR's view point, is a simple one. Why does the ordinary investor in the street need to be exposed to alternative investments?

The argument in favour has been a rather simplistic one ' essentially traditionally long-only products
