Rules of the road: Ucits and mutual funds reveal shift to regulated products

The quest for new sources of investment coupled with investor demands for liquidity and transparency have combined to push more hedge funds and funds of hedge funds into Ucits III products. In the US there are also some signs of a preference for regulated funds.

The hedge fund industry has never embraced regulatory control. For much of its history, the industry has fought tooth and nail to remain free of the rules and restrictions that govern the traditional investment business.
