Anadarko's purchase of Kerr-McGee and Western Gas Resources
US independent oil and gas company Anadarko made headlines last August when it closed the $23.3 billion acquisitions of both Kerr-McGee and Western Gas Resources.
Anadarko already had merger experience, having acquired Union Pacific Resources in 2000, but few companies, if any, have ever carried out two separate, simultaneous acquisitions on this scale relative to the size of the parent company.
