No more special treatment

Under political pressure to help fix the subprime crisis, the Financial Accounting Standards Board in April unanimously voted to remove Qualifying Special Purpose Entities (QSPEs) - a mainstay of securitisation accounting - from its list of acceptable accounting practices.
