Global whistleblowing systems could fall foul of local rules
EUROPE & US - Under section 301 of the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act (Sox), firms that are publicly listed in the US have a legal obligation to establish a whistleblowing hotline for employees to report any illegal wrongdoing at the firm. However, there is no such similar legal requirement in place for the rest of the world. Indeed, in some countries in the European Union whistleblowing is frowned upon
