Plea-bargaining gets support from UK attorney general in battle against fraud

LONDON – The UK attorney general Lord Goldsmith has announced a series of measures to tackle financial fraud, in a response to the Fraud Review at HM Treasury's Fighting Fraud Together conference.

Lord Goldsmith has backed moves to create the National Fraud Reporting Centre, to increase the powers of the City of London Police to become the national leader for fraud cases in England and Wales, and to review how fraud is dealt with in court – including plans to set up a financial court and to eliminate juries from cases of financial crime. But one recommendation that grabbed all the headlines
