Sophistication is increasing in the Middle East market as investors search for more than just Libor-plus returns. Dexia Private Bank in Bahrain has proved well equipped to furnish this demand as the region turns to capital-protected notes, reverse convertibles and alternative underlyings such as hedge funds

The Middle East is viewed by structured product issuers as a fledgling market in comparison with Europe or even the US. However, irrespective of its size, the market is relatively sophisticated and centres around products that not only source local exposure, but can also provide a more attractive return than the staple payouts of the average product found in mature markets.
