The elite ranks of credit derivatives product companies are set to grow, and the newcomers are establishing vehicles that will be more flexible in their approach to taking on credit risk

Primus Guaranty was the only credit derivatives product company (DPC) on the block when it opened for business in 2002. Before Primus, DPCs primarily played in the interest rate markets. It wasn't until early last year that Athilon Capital started trading, bringing the number of credit DPCs in the market to two.
