Alain Papiasse took over as chief executive of corporate and investment banking at BNP Paribas in April this year. Christopher Jeffery met with him in Hong Kong to talk about the French bank's strategy in Asia
Alain Papiasse has enjoyed a long career in banking. His previous roles include senior corporate and investment banking roles at Credit Lyonnais and most recently he ran BNP Paribas's asset management division. BNP Paribas chief executive Baudouin Prot asked Papiasse to swap roles with incumbent Jacques d'Estais in April. Papiasse got to run the corporate and investment bank and d'Estais - a derivatives veteran - took on asset management. Part of the rationale for the swap was to have a 'fresh
