Ferc to re-examine wider impact of California power crisis

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has reopened a case concerning the impact of the 2000–01 California power crisis on the Pacific Northwest. Pauline McCallion reports

In an order issued on October 3, 2011, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) has asked energy companies in the Pacific Northwest (a region located to the north of California, including the states of Oregon and Washington) to submit evidence showing the impact of the energy crisis that wreaked havoc on the US west coast in 2000 and 2001 on the region's spot prices.
