Clearing bank of the year: Citi

The collapse of Archegos Capital Management at the start of 2021 proved a massive headache for banks’ prime brokerage divisions. This saw at least one global player pull out of the market and others scale back significantly. This handed Citi an opportunity, and came just as the US bank was ramping up its own clearing business.
