BlackRock is the biggest user of single-stock equity options among US mutual funds, and Microsoft the most popular underlying by total size of positions, according to the sector’s latest regulatory filings.

The New York-headquartered asset manager held options with a notional value of $10.8 billion – equivalent to a 27% market share – at the end of the third quarter, ahead of T Rowe Price on $8.6
