The US should have “sovereignty” over its own clearing houses, said Heath Tarbert, who has been nominated to become chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Tarbert, currently assistant secretary for international markets and investment policy at the US Treasury Department, was responding to questions at his nomination hearing before the Senate agriculture committee on Wednesday
