Life in the Solvency II spotlight

There is a sense analysts will want to look beyond Solvency II's transitional measures to understand firms' 'true' capital position. Mutuals might enjoy more flexibility, away from the scrutiny of the markets.

The disclosure by insurers of prospective Solvency II numbers promises to be a theme of growing interest this year, raising questions about how firms will present their position to analysts, and what analysts will make of what they are told.
