Yellen nominated for Federal Reserve chair

Janet Yellen, the vice-chair of the US Federal Reserve, has been nominated to succeed Ben Bernanke as chair of the central bank. Bernanke describes her as "exceptionally well-qualified for the position, with stellar academic credentials and a strong record as a leader and a policy-maker".
