Many merger and acquisition arbitrage managers strayed from their chosen strategy as M&A activity dried up last year, causing consternation among their investors. Pioneer Alternative Investments' fund aims to follow its chosen remit resolutely

'To thyself be true' could be the main request fund of fund managers make to merger and acquisition (M&A) arbitrage portfolio managers as many have strayed from their chosen field seeking healthier returns in strategies such as distressed debt and other types of arbitrage.
