Iraq cannot be blamed for falling dollar

I'm flummoxed every time I read or hear the US dollar is falling because of concern about war with Iraq.

There are valid reasons for the dollar to be weak. A war with Iraq is not one of them. The causal link between a war with Iraq and a weak dollar is fragile. Whether the war turns out to be a lightning-quick event or a long drawn-out engagement, a war that ushers in democracy in the Middle East
