Riverstone appoints managing director and general counsel

Energy sector private equity specialist Riverstone has appointed Stephen Coats to the newly created position of managing director and general counsel.

Coats joins Riverstone from energy sector law firm Vinson & Elkins, where he was partner.

He brings extensive experience in the energy industry to the firm. During his time at Vinson & Elkins he focused on domestic and cross-border mergers
