Liquidity or bust?

The UK government's consultation on regulatory reform following the Northern Rock crisis has met with irritation from the financial sector, centring as it does on liquidity. Meanwhile, calls for government support to bridge the funding gap have had little response so far. What will happen next? William Rhode investigates

This seems to be the prevalent attitude among mortgage lenders and banks in response to the three-month consultation by the UK chancellor of the exchequer on regulatory reform following the collapse of UK mortgage lender Northern Rock.
