Icap records new high in e-trading volumes

London-based interdealer broker Icap has recorded the highest average daily electronic trading volumes for March at $966.1 billion, breaking the previous record of August 2007 at $933.9 billion. New records were also set for fixed-income products on the BrokerTec platform at $713 billion per day and spot FX on the EBS platform at $253.1 billion. The average first-quarter volumes were $923.2 billion, up 24% on Q1 2007. The fixed-income volumes increased 19% on Q1 2007 and spot FX volumes were up 41% quarter-on-quarter.
