EC takes firm line on emission allowances

As Phase II of the EU ETS comes in to effect, the EC has slashed the national allocation plans of more than ten member states, writes Oliver Holtaway

The European Commission (EC) has taken a firm line on carbon emissions reduction, slashing the emissions caps proposed by ten countries' draft national allocation plans (NAPs) by a total of 67 million tonnes (mt) of carbon dioxide (CO2), an overall cut of 7%.
