Swiss Re names Godbehere as chief financial officer

Ann Godbehere will assume the role of chief financial officer at reinsurer Swiss Re on April 1. Her promotion follows current incumbent John Fitzpatrick’s promotion to chief executive of Swiss Re's life and health business group, a vacancy created by John Coomber’s elevation to chief executive yesterday.

Godbehere will become a member of Swiss Re’s executive board and executive board committee upon her appointment.

She started her career in 1976 with Sun Life of Canada, joining Mercantile & General Reinsurance Group (M&G) in 1981. Godbehere held a number of management roles at M&G, rising to senior vice-president and controller for life and health and property/casualty businesses in North America in 1995. Swiss Re bought M&G in 1996, and Godbehere became chief financial officer of Swiss Re life and health for North America. In 1997 she was made chief executive officer of Swiss Re life and health, Canada. She moved to London as chief financial officer of Swiss Re’s life and health unit in 1998, joining the property and casualty business unit as chief financial officer based in Zurich in 2001.
