Soc Gen's Bouton heads IIF committee on Basel

The Institute of International Finance (IIF), a Washington-based banking organistion, has appointed Daniel Bouton, chairman and chief executive of Société Générale, as the chairman of its steering committee on regulatory capital.

The steering committee is charged with representing the views of the global banking industry at the highest level to the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, as it formulates new standards for regulating the capital adequacy of internationally active banks.

The IIF has more than 310 members.
