Isda AGM: OTC derivatives growth soars in H2 – Isda survey

The value of notional outstandings of over-the-counter derivatives contracts grew significantly in the second half of last year, according to a survey released today by the International Swaps and Derivatives Association. Credit derivatives saw the most significant increase, with notionals swelling 45% to $918.9 billion, compared with levels at the end of June.

“The credit derivatives numbers show impressive growth during a difficult period,” said Isda chairman Keith Bailey. “This is testimony to the value that these products bring to market participants in managing risk in times of volatility and uncertainty.”
