Matthew Crabbe, a former editor of Risk and now managing director of the financial risk management division of Incisive Media, charts the early days of Risk magazine and some of the events that helped shaped it

I joined Risk magazine in 1998. I'm happy to admit that if there ever was a 'golden age' of explosive growth and unbounded optimism in the derivatives business, it was already well over by then.
