Guidelines 'necessary for convergence' but fears of two-speed implementation
Proposals for Solvency II interim measures are not an affront to European democracy, according to the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (Eiopa).
Responding to suggestions that Eiopa could be seen as acting undemocratically, as the guidelines had not been subject to political approval, Jarl Kure, the interim guidelines project leader at Eiopa, said the proposals did not demonstrate a "lack of democracy".
