US wind power - Finding funding

After record growth last year, US wind power is facing a funding squeeze as tax-related investment dries up. Pauline McCallion asks whether Government initiatives can buoy the sector through the economic downturn

US wind power looks set to form a major part of President Barack Obama's drive to double renewable energy production over the next three years. However, while the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 provides a range of measures designed to boost renewable energy production in the US, it will be exceedingly difficult to create the conditions necessary for wind industry growth in the current economic environment, experts acknowledge.
