Flu pandemic would hit quarter of US workforce


NEW YORK – Financial institutions in the US would see up to 25% absenteeism as the result of school closures in the first week of an avian flu pandemic, if one were to hit the country.

That was one of the more startling preliminary results of the recently completed pandemic flu exercise organised by the Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council.
