US public issuance market starts 2010 with a bang

The US structured product market has made a robust start to 2010, according to statistics from Future Value Consultants (FVC).The number of structured products issued in the public market shot well into triple figures in January.

By January 21, 316 products had been issued in the US, 86% of which were reverse convertibles. Barclays Bank was at the helm of the issuance, offering 162 of the structures. In January 2009, $940 million notional was issued in 155 products, 82 of which were reverse
