Morgan Stanley turns bullish on Asia exposure with four new ETFs

Morgan Stanley has unveiled a new play on Asian equity exposure in the US, a US$5million deal that links to an equally weighted basket of four exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

An increasing number of structured product providers are looking to ETFs to provide exposure, as they do not need to pay licence fees to use the funds as underlyings for the notes in the same way they would for an index.

The funds can also often be more liquid than the underlying index, making it easier to construct the product.

Morgan Stanley launched another note in August, which was linked to the performance of the iShares MSCI Eafe Index Fund. Barclays Bank opted for the iShares MSCI
