Two big index launches paved the way for a successful 12 months for S&P Indices. The first was its 500 Low Volatility Index, used as the basis for a PowerShares equity ETF, and the second was its GSCI Dynamic Roll Index, linked to a series of exchange-traded notes (ETNs) launched by Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas, Royal Bank of Scotland and UBS.
