Latham & Watkins hires derivatives expertise

Latham & Watkins has appointed Witold Balaban as a partner in its corporate department, who leaves rival New York firm Davis Polk and Wardwell to take the role. Balaban's role at Latham will see him focus on both equity derivatives and cross-border capital markets transactions.

Balaban’s work will centre on structured, made to measure equity-linked transactions, and the development of new financial products. Since joining Davis Polk in 1993, he primarily devoted his time to structured finance and capital markets transactions, working out of both the London and Frankfurt offices between 2001 and 2005.
