Nasdaq launches Ireland index

Index provider Nasdaq OMX has launched the Nasdaq OMX Ireland Index, a modified market-capitalisation weighted index which provides exposure to the largest and most liquid Irish companies that are listed on an eligible global exchange. The index has been licensed to Invesco PowerShares Capital Management, which plans to launch an ETF based on the index later this year.

The index comprises 23 stocks with an approximate market capitalisation of US$97 billion and will also include companies that are listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market including Ryanair and Skillsoft Corp.
